James Madison Bell, D.D.

  • b. February 25, 1833 in New York, NY, son of Thaddeus and Eleanor (Youmans)
  • 1854: graduated from the University of the City of New York
  • 1857: graduated from Andover Theological Seminary
  • ordained July 21, 1858 in Ashby, MA
  • served as pastor 1876 - 1886
  • 1899: received D.D, from University of the City of New York
  • married Susan Foster, (Frye) daughter of Enoch and Mary (Foster) Frye of Andover, MA, on September 14, 1858
  • seven children: 4 sons and 3 daughters
  • died of pneumonia January 18, 1901 in Leominster, MA
